Across the street from the Holiday Inn lies the remains of the former Bosnian Parliament. The Bosnian Serb forces fired hundreds of shells at the building during the Siege and today it sits empty, having been gutted by fire and explosives.
It was in front of this building that a crowd of 100,000 Sarajevans gathered to peacefully protest the impending war, only to be fired upon by snipers from the suite rented by the Bosnian Serb Party on the upper floor of the Holiday Inn.
