Located by Sarajevo airport, the suburb of Dobrinja was one of the newer areas of the city, awash with condominiums that were built originally to house the athletes during the Winter Olympics of 1984. However, this neighborhood became a siege within a siege as it was cut off from the rest of the city, surrounded by Bosnian Serb forces. With the constant attacks, the residents had little choice to bury their dead in local parks or in the protected areas in the shadow of their condominiums.
Today, a number of new developments litter the area. However, in the areas that were close to the front lines, notably to the south, the carnage is still quite evident.
